Laboratory for Interferon Research

A Brief Description of the Laboratory

The main task of the laboratory is focused on studying biological properties of animal and human interferons and the mechanisms of their antimicrobial (in particular antiviral), antitumor and immunomodulatory activity on the cell and molecular levels. Special attention is paid to mutual interaction of human and swine interferons and its effect on normal and cancer cell division as well as the effect of electric current on interferon production and efficacy. The laboratory also makes research of the possibilities to improve the therapeutic application of interferons by using oral and time-controlled applications of interferon solutions.
