Brief C.V.

Prof. Eva Ružić - Sabljić was born in 1957 in Rijeka (Croatia). She completed Medical Faculty in Zagreb (Croatia) and worked for several years as general practitioner. In 1987, she obtained employment at the Institute of microbiology and Immunology of the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana. In 1993, she earned Master’s Degree and, in1998, Doctor's Degree both from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana. In 1998, she passed board exam in clinical microbiology. In1988, she founded the Laboratory for Diagnostics of Borreliosis and Leptospirosis and was also appointed its Head. In cooperation with her colleagues from bacteriology laboratories at the Institute of Microbiology and immunology, she founded, in 2010, the Laboratory for Molecular Bacteriology and Mycology. She was elected Teaching Assistant for Microbiology and Immunology in 1992, Assistant Professor in 2002, and Associate Professor in 2008. She has been participating in several research projects and in education programs at the Chair of Microbiology and Immunology.

Her research work embraces the areas, such as lyme borreliosis, leptospirosis, and molecular microbiology, predominantly the development and evaluation of molecular methods for infectious disease diagnostics and molecular identification of bacteria. She attended postgraduate courses at several eminent European institutions, such as Institut Louis Pasteur in Paris, Max von Pettenkofer Institut in Munich, Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, Hygiene Institute at the Faculty of Medicine in Vienna. Along with other activities, the laboratory organizes training programs for the researchers from abroad who frequently come to attend the programs. In 2002, Eva Ružić - Sabljič was awarded the ESCMID Research Fellowship in recognition of her remarkable contributions to clinical microbiology. Her bibliography comprises 383 bibliography units of which 87 are original papers published in academic journals using the SCI and 77 papers published in international and local scientific and research journals. Until November 2011, more than 1231 citations of the publications by Prof. Ružić - Sabljič with h-index 17 (the standard h-index 11) were recorded.
