KRATEK OPIS PROJEKTA
SUMMARY
In the SLOSEQ (HERA 2) project, we will continue our collaboration at the national level between IMI UL-MF (Institute of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana), NIJZ (National Institute of Public Health), and NLZOH (National Laboratory of Health, Environment and Food), who were already partners in the HERA 2021 project aimed at increasing Slovenia’s capacity for conducting rtRT-PCR for diagnostic purposes and sequencing the entire genomes of SARS-CoV-2 using next-generation sequencing method (NGS-WGS).
The SLOSEQ project (HERA-II), coordinated by NLZOH, follows the general objectives of the EU4Health program to protect EU residents from serious cross-border threats to member states (EU Regulation 2021/522) and is divided into 7 work packages. The common goals of the project are: better preparedness and response to public health threats, sustainability of the public health microbiology system, shortcut to eHealth goals, rapid reporting of microbiological agents to patient’s record and in e-based heath-system, progress towards common European, Health Data Space, progress in implementing the European One Health Action Plan against Antimicrobial Resistance, maintain and, strengthen genomic surveillance and epidemic response capacities in Slovenia and data sharing across various public domains.
As an affiliated entity, IMI participates in work package 2, where we will continue our efforts in the national real-time monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 and the detection of known and new variants of SARS-CoV-2. The goal of this work package is to enable the sustainable continuation of SARS-CoV-2 monitoring in Slovenia with existing rtRT-PCR and NGS-WGS infrastructure and consolidation of technological procedures for SARS-CoV-2 sequencing.
SLOSEQ is a European Union project co-financed by European Health and Digital Executive Agency – HaDEA.
